Los Angeles-based Factual, the data startup headed by Gil Elbaz, has just updated the firm's services, saying this evening that it has improved its local data information, expanded its international datasets, rolled out an iPhone SDK, and more. The firm--which is backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Index Ventures--said that it now has over 15 million business listings for its US points of interest database, which is used by mobile developers. The firm also said it has added 19 additional countries and territories to its international datasets; launched a new dataset of US doctors based on specialty, hospital affiliation, and other information; rolled out an iPhone native wrapper to Factual data calls; and more. Factual is providing very large, open databases of data such as local business information to Facebook places and other users. Elbaz is the inventor of what is now Google's AdSense.
