FastSoft Targets CDNs With New Product

Pasadena-based FastSoft, a maker of network appliances to accelerate Internet transfers, said this morning that it has rolled out a new product targeted at enterprises and CDNs. The firm, which is a spinout of Caltech, said that its new E 1000 product provides 1 Gbps in capacity for speeding content delivery. FastSoft's appliances are used to speed Web-based distribution of video and other assets, and are based on research develops at Caltech for overcoming the limitations of TCP/IP. FastSoft said the new product is targeted at firms distributing video, CAD files, software upgrades, and other rich media for subscription and VOD services. The firm's new appliance retails for $80,000.
