Fisker Automotive Names New CEO

Anaheim-based Fisker Automotive is in a management shuffle, saying today that it has named Tom LaSorda as its new CEO and Vice Chairman, with former CEO and founder Henrik Fisker becoming Executive Chairman of the company. LaSorda just joined Fisker in December, having previously served as CEO, President and Vice Chairman of the Chrysler Group, in addition to experience at General Motors. Fisker also said that Chairman Ray Lane will become lead director of the firm, serving as Chairman of the board. The move comes after Fisker chopped its staff after failing to meet DOE deadlines for its production goals, which has resulted in the firm being unable to tap further Department of Energy loans for its electric auto efforts. Fisker has been in the midst of looking to ramp sales of its first vehicle, the Karma luxury sports car. The firm says that so far, it has raised $860M in private equity for its efforts.
