Fulcrum Samples 10G Ethernet Switch Chip

Calabasas-based Fulcrum Microsystems has started sampling its 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch chips. Fulcrum said this week that its FM2224 device, a member of its FocalPoint family, is now sampling. The company claims that the chip has better performance and latency than other silicon. Fulcrum's chips are based on clockless semiconductor designs. Fulcrum said that the switches are targeted at low-cost, 10-Gigabit Ethernet applications and complement TCP offload and RDMA techniques for improving the latency of Ethernet networks.
