Broadcom Extends Wireless LAN Coverage

Irvine-based Broadcom has expanded its line of wireless chips with a new 54g wireless LAN chipset. The new chips enable a greater range of WiFi connectivity, with distances of up to 50 percent greater than previous solutions. Broadcom said that its new single-chip 802.11g client solution and system-on-a-chip router use a technique to better receive transmissions and extends the maximum range of WiFi signals. Broadcom is targeted notebook PCs, wireless routers, cell phones, and other handheld devices with its new BCM4318E single-chip 802.11g client and the BCM5352E router system-on-a-chip silicon.
