Qualcomm Sues Nokia

San Diego-based Qualcomm announced today that its subsidiary, SnapTrack, has filed suit against Nokia for patent infringement. The firm said that the lawsuit covers eleven Qualcomm patents and one SnapTrack patent involving manufacture of use of equipment for GSM, GPRS, and EDGE cellular standards. The telecom giant claims that Nokia is infringing on Qualcomm's patents by making or selling products in the United States that support the GSM mobile phone standard. Qualcomm is looking for an injunction against Nokia on sales of products, plus monetary damages. The patents in question include many of the same based GSM patents that Qualcomm had asserted in an earlier lawsuit against Broadcom.
