Microsoft Files Suit Against Software Pirates

Microsoft has filed suit against eight of its partners yesterday for violation of its software licenses, and for distributing and selling software intended for production evaluation and internal use. The software company said that it had filed suit against nine individuals, including three Southern Californians, for violating its software agreements. The nine individuals were members of Microsoft's MAPS program, the Microsoft Action Pack Subscription, a program intended to allow customers access to discounted products for production evalution. Microsoft said that the individuals apparently sold the software as part of subscriptions to consumers and through online auction sites. Southern Californians named in the suit included James Baker of San Diego; Jimmy Huh of Encinitas; and Eric Mitchell of Santa Ana.
