Coraid Supports Ethernet Disk Storage Protocol

San Clemente-based Coraid, a provider of low cost disk storage products, said Thursday that it has teamed with Rocket Divisoin Software to support Windows, ATA-over-Ethernet (AoE). AoE is a disk storage protocol targeted at low cost, Ethernet network block storage, and competes against the more reliable iSCSI protocol. The companies have released a driver that supports the AoE protocol for Windows platforms. Coraid competes against Zetera, another firm developing a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) storage over Ethernet protocol.
