San Diego Man Charged With Hacking USC Computers

A computer network administrator has been charged for hacking into a the University of Southern California's college applicant database, according to the U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles. Eric McCarty, a 25-year old compuer system administrator in San Diego, was charged with hacking into USC's college applicant database. The criminal complaint charges that McCarty was able to hack into USC's database by exploiting a SQL injection vulnerability to bypass password authentication. McCarty reportedly hacked the database and reported the exploit to securityfocus.com, which contacted USC.
