Apptix Acquires WebMessenger

Herndon, Va.-based Apptix, a provider of unified communications systems for the business market, said today that it has acquired Los Angeles-based WebMessenger. The deal was worth $7M in a combination of cash and stock. WebMessenger was founded in 1993, and will be used to expand Apptix's portfolio of hosted email, collaboration, and voice products. $4M of the deal was in cash. According to Apptix, the acquisition closed on April 30th.
