StarWars.com Taps Eyespot In Video Editing Deal

San Diego-based Eyespot has been selected by StarWars.com, a new web site focused on the Star Wars movies, as part of a Web 2.0 relaunch of the site. Eyespot, which is a provider of a Web 2.0-style, online video editing application, will allow fans to mash-up videos from scenes from Star Wars movies. According to the companies, StarWars.com will incorporate Eyespot's online video editing tool, and will allow users to add their own video to more than 250 scenes and music taken from the Star Wars films. The new site will be unveiled today as part of a commeration of the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. StarWars.com is operated by Lucasfilm Ltd. The deal follows an announcement by Eyespot in March that it would provide mash-ups for Paramount Pictures, and also has deals with the NBA and Jive Records, among others. Eyespot is venture backed by Express Ventures and Gabriel Venture Partners.
