Mahalo Forks Over Cash For Search Results

Santa Monica-based Mahalo.com, the human-powered search engine started by Weblogs founder and former Silicon Valley Reporter publisher Jason Calacanis, has launched a program to pay users to add content to the firm's service. According to Calacanis, the Mahalo Greenhouse program will pay users $10 to $15 per search result. The program requires approval to become what the firm calls a "Part Time Guide", and is paid out on a scale that depends on the number of search results submitted by a user. Searches are also reviewed by the firm's full time guides before posting. Mahalo is backed by Sequoia Capital, Elon Musk, News Corp, CBS Corporation, and Burda Media.
