Oplink Buys Remaining OCP Stake

Fremont, California-based Oplink Communications said today that it has acquired the remaining 41.9% of optical component maker Optical Communications Products. Woodland Hills-based Optical Communications Products designs and manufacturers fiber optic components, including transceivers and transmitters, for metropolitan and other optical networking markets. The move will result in OCP going private and becoming a wholly owned company run by Oplink. Oplink will pay $1.65 per share in cash for the remainder of OCP. Oplink had purchased 58.1% of OCP in June from OCP's majority shareholder. The firms said that the deal is expected to close in September.
