STEC Gets Win At EMC

Santa Ana-based STEC said Monday that its solid state drives have been selected by data storage giant EMC for its Symmetrix DMX-4 storage systems. Financial impact of the design win were not disclosed. STEC said that EMC will use its solid state drives -- which are based on Flash memory chips -- as part of the EMC Symmetric DMX-4 high end networked storage system. EMC's Symmetrix is the firm's high end, enterprise, highly reliable storage system. STEC's Zeus-IOPS line of solid state drives provide high speed storage in a standard 3.5" hard drive form factor. Solid state drive use memory instead of spinning platters for storage, and provide higher bandwidth and speeds than traditional hard drives.
