Row44 Powers Southwest Airlines Internet Access

Southwest Airlines said Wednesday that it will test satellite-delivered broadband Internet access on its plane, in a deal which taps Westlake Village-based Row 44 for the technology. Southwest said it will provide Wi-Fi broadband Internet access on multiple aircraft, starting with four aircraft sometime this summer. The airline said the airline will allow its customers access to e-mail, music, shopping, and virtual private networks while in flight. Row 44 was founded by Comcore Semiconductor's John Guidon and Gregg Fialcowitz, who was co-founder of Aprisa and CopperVision. Guidon sold Calabasas-based Comcore to National Semiconductor for $150M in 1998.
