Infosys Funds Center At USC

Indian-based IT outsourcing and consulting firm Infosys Technologies, and the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering, have set up a new research center at USC, the two companies said Wednesday. According to Infosys and USC, the two will set up a new Center for Research & Education in Advanced Software Technologies (CAST) at the USC campus, using funding from Infosys. The two said that the new center will focus on research and education on software architecture, service oriented architecture and information integration, intelligent systems and agents, mobile and wireless systems, sensor networks and CAD frameworks and tools for hardware and software. The two also said that Infosys and USC will collaborate on joint research, bilateral visits by researchers, student internships, and distance education. USC and Infosys did not disclose financial terms of the deal. Yannis C. Yortsos, Dean of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, said that the Viterbi School has more graduate students enrolled from India than any other country except the U.S. Infosys is one of the biggest IT companies in India, with other 91,000 employees and revenues of more than $4B.
