Machinima.com Snags Hollywood Comedy Writers

Los Angeles-based Machinima.com, a venture-backed online site which centers around video games and entertainment, said this morning that it has tapped fifteen writers from popular comedy television series such as The Simpsons, Saturday Night Live, and Seinfeld, for a series of original comedy plots on the site. Machinima is venture backed by MK Capital and other investors, and recently scored $3.85M in funding. Machinima's content uses video game animation to create online movies and videos. The firm said the new effort will be billed the Machinima Comedy Lab.

The firm said the writers involved with the site include: Chris Cluess (Mad TV, The Simpsons, Beggars and Choosers, Cheers, SCTV); Bill Freiberger (Drawn Together, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, The Simpsons); Eric Horsted (Boondocks, Knights of Prosperity, Futurama, Home Improvement, Coach); Ken Keeler (Futurama, The Simpsons, Wings, The Naked Truth, The Critic, The Late Show); Stacie Lipp (King of Queens, Roseanne, Married With Children); Christina Lynch (Wildfire, The Dead Zone, Unhappily Ever After); Peggy Nicoll (WordGirl, Daria); Bill Oakley (Mission Hill, The Simpsons, Futurama); Max Pross & Tom Gammill (The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Monk, The Critic, Saturday Night Live, The Late Show); Mike Rowe (Family Guy, Futurama, Comedy Central Roasts, The Jaime Kennedy Experiment); Loren Segan (Wildfire, The Dead Zone, Spyder Games); Patric M. Verrone (Futurama, Muppets Tonight!, The Simpsons, The Critic, Pinky and the Brain); and Maiya Williams (Mad TV, The PJs, The Wayans Bros., The Fresh Prince of Bel Air).

Machinima will handle all production, marketing, and distribution of the content, through its own site and sites such as YouTube.
