Verizon Ships Novatel's Mobile Hotspot Hardware

Telecom carrier Verizon said Thursday that it has begun shipping new mobile hotspot hardware from Novatel Wireless, which allows its users to create their own, mobile, Wi-Fi hotspots. According to Verizon, the new hardware--its MiFi 2200--uses Verizon's 3G network to connect up to five devices into its network using Wi-Fi connections. The new hardware comes from San Diego's Novatel Wireless, which manufactures wireless modems and related hardware for connecting PCs into cell phone networks. According to Verizon, the new, battery powered devices will cost $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, with a two-year customer agreement. Novatel announced the new personal Wi-Fi hotspot hardware in December.
