Law Firm Behind $2.2B Chinese Software Piracy Suit Claims Attacks

Los Angeles-based Gibson Hoffman & Pancione, the law firm representing Santa Barbara-based Cybersitter in a $2.2 billion, software piracy suit against China, claimed Wednesday evening that the firm has come under attack from servers within China. According to the law firm, has been receiving targeted, customized Trojan emails, which were specifically targeted at retrieving data from their computers. The firm said it has reported the attacks to the FBI. The report comes a week after the firm filed a $2.2 billion suit for CYBERsitter against China, claiming that the country, a number of software makers, and hardware makers had illegally copied code from CYBERsitter's software for China's controversial Green Dam internet censoring software. The report comes a day after Google said that China had been attempting to hack into the search engine giant's infrastructure, and that it may pull out of the country because of the hacking.
