ClariPhy Nabs $24M

Irvine-based ClariPhy Communications, a developer of mixed signal, digital signal processing semiconductors for the optical market, announced this morning that it has raised $24M in a Series C funding round. The round included new strategic investor Oclaro, multiple un-named telecom OEMs, as well as existing investors Norwest Venture Partners, Allegis Capital, ONSET Ventures, and Pacific General Partners. ClariPhy said the new funding will go towards delivering a new class of sigle-chip ICs focused on optical networking. The company said a "significant portion" of the funding came from Oclaro and other partners. Oclaro is using ClariPhy's technology in the 100G Coherent Long Haul and Ultra Long Haul market. The new funding round is the first significant funding for the firm since 2007. More information »
