Astute Networks Gains New Funding

San Diego-based Astute networks, a developer of blade storage products, said Thursday that it has raised a new, "significant" capital investment from Tallwood Venture Capital. Amount of the funding was not disclosed. According to Astute, the new funding will go toward expanding its existing company base and gain design wins for its blade storage products. Astute's last, announced round had been in 2004, from backers Dali-Hook Partners, KeyNote Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Sevin Rosen Funds, Tallwood Venture Capital, US Venture Partners, Velocity Interactive/ComVentures, and Windward Ventures. It does not appear if those other backers, aside from Tallwood, were involved in this new round, although the firm still lists representatives from Sevin Rosen and KeyNote Ventures on its board. Astute said it is now focused on the ATCA (Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture) bladed storage market. The firm had originally been focused on network processors for storage protocol offload. More information »
