Verve Wireless Raises $7M For Mobile News Apps

San Diego-based Verve Wireless, the developer of mobile publishing tools for the Associated Press, McClatchy, Belo Interactive, and other publishers, said this morning that it has raised $7M more in additional funding. The round was led by BlueRun Ventures, and also included prior investors The Associated Press and others. According to Verve, the new funding will go towards further development and expansion of products. Verve's software, which runs on iPhone, Android, and other platforms, is used by local newspapers, the AP, and others for their mobile media publishing. In addition to the software, Verve also manages an advertising network, which it says reaches more than 14 million readers. The company says its mobile news app served up 150 million mobile news pages in July.
