Entropic Expands Partnership With TowerJazz

San Diego-based Entropic Communications and Newport Beach-based TowerJazz said late Monday that the two have expanded their supplier capacity agreement. Entropic Communications, which makes semiconductors used by the broadband and cable industry in set-top box products, explained that it has had an increase in volume of production for its Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) ODU and tuner product, which drove the new relationships. Entropic said that the new deal with TowerJazz gives it "enhanced supply predictability" and upside flexibility to support manufacturing its DBS and TV tuner products. Financial details of the new agreement were not announced by the firm. The firms said that, as part of the agreement, TowerJazz will be expanding its wafer production capacity in Newport Beach to handle the production increases for Entropic, as well as increase production of Entropic's semiconductors in Midgdal Haemek, Israel.
