Zumbox Takes $9.7M

Westlake Village-based Zumbox, which is developing an electronic bill payment service, has raised an additional $9.7M in funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm. Source of the new funding was not disclosed. The firm previously raised $8.0M in funding in August of 2009. Zumbox, which originally was focused on allowing marketers to send electronic mail to postal addresses, has recently refocused and is now looking to aggregate bill payers and electronic billing statements, under the leadership of former Stamps.com Chairman and CEO John Payne.
