LA To Get Space Shuttle Endeavor

NASA, which is in the process of retiring the Space Shuttle, announced the final destination of the space shuttle fleet Tuesday, saying that the Space Shuttle Endeavor will go to the California Science Center in Los Angeles. The Endeavor, which is set to have its final flight at the end of the month, is one of four Space Shuttles which are going to museums after the shutdown of the Space Shuttle program. In an announcement from NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, NASA said that Shuttle Enterprise is going to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York; the Shuttle Atlantis will go to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor's Complex in Florida, and the Discovery will go to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia. The Space Shuttle Edeavor made its first flight in 1992, and was a replacement for the ill fated Challenger Shuttle. The Endeavor was built in Palmdale.
