FindTheBest Takes On Car Classifieds

Looking to take on the classifieds market, FindTheBest, the online comparisons site run by former DoubleClick founder Kevin O'Connor, said today that it has launched a new "cars for sale" tool. The Santa Barbara startup said the entry into the classified market allows users to shop for cars by type, make, model, year, mileage, and color. The new functionality applies the easy filtering and sorting tools developed by FindTheBest.com to help users find local used autos. The startup is tapping listings from GetAuto, which it says has a national database of about 400,000 cars for sale from dealers. The company said the car classifieds listings are the first in a set of vertical classifieds shopping features it plans to launch in the coming months: other areas it is looking at are vacation rentals, corporate rentals, motorcycles, and horses. FindTheBest.com is one of the most closely watched Santa Barbara startups, in part due to O'Connor prior success (IPO, acquisition by Google for $3.1 billion) and the firm's backing, from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
