Amazon Options Horror Novel

Amazon Studios, the Los Angeles production arm of Amazon.com, has further expanding its content efforts, saying this week that it has optioned a gothic horror novel called Seed. The horror novel, authored by Ania Ahlborn, is the first to be optioned by the studio, which previously had only optioned movie scripts and episodic series projects. Amazon's option allows Amazon to keep the project in-house for future movie development. Amazon said that the title has been number one on its bestselling horror list, and was released in mid-2011 as a self-published title. Amazon Studios has been in the process of optioning scripts and other content for use in turning into its own movies, to be distributed through Amazon Prime Instant Video and other efforts.
