Broadcom Powers Wii U

Irvine-based Broadcom said today that its semiconductors are being used to power the wireless connectivity in Nintendo's new Wii U. Broadcom says its chips are being used to provide Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC capability to the new Nintendo game controller, including handling the transfer of video and audio between the Wii U console and Wii U GamePad controller; Bluetooth connections to legacy games and peripherals; and wireless connectivity to the Internet. Broadcom said its BCM43362, BCM43237 and BCM4319 Wi-Fi chips; its NFC:BCM20792 chip; and its BCM20702 Bluetooth chip are all being used in the Wii U and shipping in production quantities.
