In the case of GoFundMe, a San Diego-based crowdfunding startup, you shell out $175,000 for the domain Crowdfunding.com. GoFundMe said it has just purchased the Crowdfunding.com domain plus a number of related domain names, from an Australian Internet entrepreneur, Mat Walker. GoFundMe said it made the investment to help introduce crowdfunding to the masses. The company is headed by Brad Damphousse. The firm says it is entirely bootstrapped, and has so far helped people raise over $75M for their personal fundraising campaigns.
