Illumina Sets Chief Medical Officer

San Diego-based life sciences equipment developer Illumina said this morning that it has named Dr. Richard Klausner as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. Klausner was previously a managing partner at venture capital firm The Column Group, and also has served at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and National Cancer Institute. Illunia said that Klausner will lead its strategy for advancing genomics into clinical medicine and public health. Illumina is a major manufacturer of life sciences equipment, including gene sequencing and other related equipment.
