Sky Dayton Steps Away From Boingo Wireless To Focus On Startups

Sky Dayton, the founder and chairman of Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, is stepping down from the company's board of directors and his position as Chairman, the company said late yesterday as part of its earnings release. The company--which reported strong earnings, revenue, and profitability--said that CEO David Hagan has been appointed to the board to replace Dayton. Dayton founded Boingo in 2001. Dayton said in a statement that he will return to spending all of his time on start-ups, which are his passion. Boingo said it has been seeing significant revenue drivers in its small cell network efforts. Boingo has recently been announcing a significant number of small cell network and combined Wi-Fi/small cell deployments at such places as stadiums and airports.
