CALIENT Technologies Links With University Research Effort

Santa Barbara-based optical circuit switching technology devleoper CALIENT Technologies said today that it has linked up with a 10-university research organization, to expand the use of optical circuit switching in software defined data center and metro networks. The company said it has linked up with the Center for Integrated Access Networks (CIAN) to help bolster research in optical networks. Financial details of the effort were not disclosed. CALIENT said the Center for Integrated Access Networks is funded by the National Science Foundation, and is aimed at research on end user access to networks at data rates of up to 100Gbps.
