Intuit Faces Government Scrutiny In Tax Filings

Tax filing software maker Intuit said late Friday that it has been contacted by regulatory authorities, including Congress, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Justice, over iss with fraudulent income tax filings. The company--which develops and supports its TurboTax consumer tax filing software out of its San Diego offices--said it is looking forward to cooperating with all such inquiries, including formal requests for information it has already received from the DOJ. Intuit suspended its state e-filing a month ago due to a rash of fraudulent tax returns, which primarily to have come from TurboTax returns.
