Amazon Sued In LA Over Prime Now Couriers

E-commerce giant Amazon.com has been sued in Los Angeles, by a group of contracts which say that Amazon.com is effectively paying them less than minimum wage to deliver its Prime Now one hour deliveries. The lawsuit, filed against both Amazon.com and Glendale, California-based Scoobeez, comes only a month after the formal launch of Prime Now to both Los Angeles and Orange County. Prime Now offers up one- and two-hour delivery on items stocked in local fulfillment centers. The lawsuit alleges that Amazon's contractors should be classified as employees, since they have to wear Amazon.com uniforms and are forced to work set shifts for the company. Scoobeez, which offers up local courier services in Los Angeles, apparently has been responsible for the actual hiring of drivers for Amazon Prime Now.
