U.S. Army To Recruit Dozens Of Researchers At New Campus In Playa Vista

In a bid to tap into the growing, innovative technology atmosphere in Playa Vista, the U.S. Army said Tuesday that it plans to recruit up to 70 researchers to a new campus in the growing center for technology, at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT). According to the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the lab will be the first west of the Mississippi, and will focus on discovery, innovation, and transition of science and technology. USC's ICT was founded in 1999 as part of a contract with the U.S. Army. The two specifically said the Army is hoping to tap into Silicon Beach, and the "culture of innovation" due to the high concentration of creative and technology companies in Playa Vista, Venice, and Santa Monica.
