Dell Software Acquired By Private Equity Firms Francisco, Elliott

Dell Software, the unit of computer giant Dell which includes a sizeable chunk of employees in Aliso Viejo, has been acquired by private equity firms Francisco Partners, along with Elliott Management, the companies said this morning. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. A chunk of Dell Software is the former Quest Software, which was based in Aliso Viejo and was acquired by Dell back in 2012. Dell Software still lists a significant number of open job and positions at its Aliso Viejo location. Dell acquired Quest Software--which was founded by Vinny Smith--in an earlier effort to diversify its business away from hardware and more into enterprise IT software.
