Western Digital Backs Low Latency Interconnect Startup

Irvine-based Western Digital has made an investment in a developer of low latency interconnects, used to connect servers and flash memory storage together in fabrics. According to Kazan Networks, it raised $4.5M in a Series A funding, which was led by Samsung Ventures, and also included Intel Capital and Western Digital. WD is a major maker of flash-based storage devices. Kazan says its Kazan said its product allows for sub-1us latency to access on volatile memory over fabric networks, and is based in Auburn, California. More information »
