Triple Taps Augmented Reality To Sell Furniture

Los Angeles-based Triple, a startup developing augmented reality applications, said today that it has launched a new app to let users shop for furniture--and see how that furniture looks like in their home or office. The venture backed company's app--currently only available for iOS--let users search for different furniture from such stores as Design Within Reach, Article, CB2, Crate & Barrel, West Elm and Restoration Hardware, and "drag and drop" that furniture into real life augmented reality of a user's living space. The company said its aim is to let furniture buyers see what items look like in their homes or offices before making a purchase. Triple has received seed funding from Foundation Capital. Triple was founded by Chris Heinrich and Alex Edelman. Triple recently relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles. Both Heinrich and Edelman were students in Ph.D. at the University of Chicago's physics program with Heinrich recently graudating and Edelman still at the school. Triple recently won the New Venture Challenge at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
