Gateway Names New CEO

Irvine-based Gateway has appointed a new CEO, saying last night that it has appointed J. Edward Coleman as chief executive officer of the firm. Coleman replaces interim CEO Rick Snyder, who will remain Chairman of the board. Snyder had been CEO since February, since CEO Wayne Inouye suddenly resigned. Coleman has served as CEO and Chairman of CompuCom, and was most recently at Arrow Electronics. Coleman will also join the firm's board. Coleman takes the helm as Gateway struggles to reverse steep losses on declining profitability. The company recently rejected an unsolicited $450M offer from Lap Shun Hui, founder of eMachines, for its retail unit last week. More information »
