Gemstar-TV Guide Buys Online Web Site

Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International has made an acquisition, saying this morning that it has acquired Jump The Shark, which runs jumptheshark.com, an online Internet site which follows popular television programs. Terms were not disclosed. Jumptheshark allows TV viewers to debate the quality of popular television shows. Gemstar said that it will develop and promote the web site across its media platforms. The deal also calls for Jon Hein, founder of the site, to provide editorial and related services for Gemstar-TV Guide.
