Gemstar-TV Guide In Licensing Deal In China

Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International said today that it has signed a multi-year interactive program guide deal with a Chinese cable operator, Changzhou Broadcast & Television Information Network Co. Ltd. (CZCATV). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Gemstar said that the deal was its first IPG agreement it has made in China. CZCATV serves the city of Changzhou in Jiangsu province with analog cable, and is switching to digital service. Gemstar said Shanghai-based Ching Hai Technology is providing client management, data collection, technical support, and integration of its IPG in the deal.
