GoFundMe Tops $1 Billion In Donations Last Year
San Diego-based crowdfunding site GoFundMe announced this morning that donations on the site totaled $1.09 billion, which the company said puts the company on par with the top ten of America's largest charities. The site, which is led by Rob Solomon, let anyone contribute to different crowdfunded project--ranging from charitable efforts to personal projects and appeals. The site features everything from crowdfunding for medical expenses and volunteer programs, to funerals and youth sports fundraising. GoFundMe takes 5% of each transaction as a fee, suggesting the company has annual revenues now of around $54.5 million.
