GPS Firm GloNav Launches, Acquires RF Domus, Gets $16.2M
Newport Beach-based GloNav, a new company focused on the development of GPS semiconductors, said today that it has launched the company and received $16.2M in capital from Atlantic Bridge Ventures. The firm is a spinout from Ceva, Inc., and has also acquired RFDomus, an Irvine-based developer of RF and analog mixed signal semiconductors for the wireless communications market. GloNav said that it has rolled out a low power, high sensitivity GPS and assisted-GPS receiver, based on digital signal processing technology. The chip uses cellular networks to complement GPS for determining position. The firm said that its technology will ship this year in more than 5 million wireless handset and mobile device applications.
