Grand Challenge Advances Five So. Cal. Teams For Robot Race

The DARPA Grand Challenge, the self-navigating, robotic vehicle race sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, announced this morning that it has selected 53 teams to advance in the next step of the race. Five of those teams are located in Southern California, and will receive site visits from DARPA as part of the continuing selection process. Among the teams who have advanced in the competition are Team 23 Racing in San Diego, Axion Racing in Westlake Village, Team Caltech in Pasadena, The Golem Group in Santa Monica, and SciAutonics/Auburn Engineering in Thousand Oaks. DARPA's next Grand Challenge robotic vehicle race is set for November 3, 2007.
