GreatCall Raises $38M In Third Round
Del Mar-based GreatCall, which operates the Jitterbug mobile phone service, said this morning that the firm has raised $38M in a Series C funding round. The round was led by Court Square Ventures, and included existing investors Steelpoint Capital, Charles River Ventures, Nauta Capital, and the firm's founders, Marty Cooper and Arlene Harris. GreatCall said that Sumitomo also participated through a conversion of previously issued notes. GreatCall's Jitterbug service is focused on providing a simple cell phone service aimed at seniors and others. Jim Murray of Court Square will join the firm's board as part of the funding. The financing will go to build out the firm's sales channels, and to develop new applications and devices.
