Hackers Overrun Personal Web Hosting Sites

San Diego-based software provider Websense is reporting that its researchers are finding that free personal web hosting sites are increasingly being exploited by hackers, who are using the sites to spread viruses, spyware, and malicious code. The company's researchers reported that in the first two weeks of this month, it found over 500 incidents of free web hosting sites that were created to spread keyloggers and other harmful software. It said that free blogging accounts are also being used, as well as free sites for hosting online journals, photo albums, and online scrapbooks. Most of the fraudulent sites were hosted in Brazil or the UK.
