Homestore Makes A Move, Changes Name And Focus

Westlake Village-based Homestore, the provider of real estate and apartment rental web sites and services, announced yesterday that the company is changing its name to Move, Inc. The company also said that it is acquiring Moving.com, a web site focused on consumer moving tools and access to moving services, along with establishing its own Move.com web site brand. Homestore said that the change will center on Realtor.com, Move, and Welcome Wagon, and focus the firm's business on connecting consumers with Realtors, home builders, and rental property owners. Homestore said that the Move.com web site will replace its Homestore.com, HomeBuilder.com, and RENTNET web sites, and will also result in the change of its symbol on the NASDAQ from HOMS to MOVE.
