Ice Energy Names President

Los Angeles-based energy storage technology developer Ice Energy has named a new president, saying that it has appointed Mike Hopkins to the role. The company--which develops a product which uses the creation of ice to cut power consumption and usage during peak electricity usage times--said Hopkins has been at Ice Energy since 2009. He previously spent eighteen years at Canadian law firm Bennett Jones LLP. Ice Energy develops a product which connects to 5-ton, commercial air conditioning units, and creates ice at night when power demand is low; that ice is then used during the day to provide cooling, reducing the need for power intensive AC compressors.
