El Segundo-based iSuppli, the electronics research and analysis firm headed by Derek Lidow, has been acquired by IHS, a publisher and provider of a wide range of research services. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to IHS, the acquisition will complement its existing IHS Product Design and Supply Chain business. iSuppli is known for its teardown of consumer electronics items, identifying the components and bill of materials for those items, but also provides a range of research services for the electronics, manufacturing, and supply chain markets. IHS and iSuppli did not say how the move would affect employment in El Segundo.
