j2 Licenses Patents To Hostopia

Los Angeles-based j2 Global Communications said Thursday that it has licensed the firm's digital fax patent portfolio to Hostopia, a provider of web services for the small and medium sized business market. Financial terms were not disclosed. j2 said that it has given Hostopia a 10-year, non-exclusive, worldwide license to its portfolio in exchange for an upfront payment plus ongoing quarterly royalty payments. j2 Global is a provider of Internet-based FAX and communications services.
